Giant asteroid to pass by Earth this November

Another spectacular sight will be seen in the sky this coming November!

According to NASA, an asteroid named 2055 YU55 will fly close to the earth this November 8, narrowly missing the earth at 200,000 miles. That's closer to us than the moon which is revolving around the earth somewhere around 240,000 miles away.

YU55 orbits the sun every 14 years. It has a diameter of 400 meters / 1,300 feet and weighs about 55 million tons. And if it ever should hit the earth, the explosion will be equivalent to 65 thousand nuclear bombs, leaving a crater about six miles wide 200 feet deep. But NASA confirms that, although close, the asteroid will not collide with the earth at least in the next 100 years.

The fly-by will be visible from earth between November 8 at 23:38 GMT and November 9 at 07:13 GMT. (That's between noontime until early evening November 9th in Asia.) Get your lenses ready!

I'm pretty sure that this would be an interesting piece in the coming months. Let's keep a lookout for the lightshow both up in the sky and down here on earth!
