Time flies so fast especially with my kind of work. I lose some days to sleep -- when coping up to my night shifts. Been busy with a lot of things also. Plus, February IS the shortest month of the year, afterall.
We have been busy with none other than Facebook! In particular, Pet Society. :) We've been busy cranking up Jessie and Doggie so that they can have more clothes and more furnitures in their houses. We've recently gotten a Samurai Helmet, Jester's Cap, Watermelon Hat, Circus Wallpaper, and some Bathroom Floor tiles. :) If you're lucky, those mystery boxes can really surprise you with those great items! I'm hoping I can get more items for the "Garden / Greenhouse" room I'm building.
I've started early last month a new blog on my comics reading. Honestly, I'm lagging behind on that as well due to the limited time that I have. Nevertheless, I still want to do that. I've already read so many recently published comics. It just takes time to actually write a review, scan some pages, and the like. Wish me luck! :)
I've also started reviewing for a Cisco certification. I was actually not taking this seriously primarily because of the cost and the job. That was, until just recently. The certification is is required by my company, so I might as well cough up the cash and get certified. I'm just hoping the company would shoulder some of the cost since this will no doubt help us do our jobs much better. ** finger's crossed **
Also, we're getting serious about this weight loss thing. Aside from our diet -- which is also an everyday struggle -- exercise is now one of our priorities. We're doing crunches everyday to tone down our bellies -- not easy though. My abdomen is wracked with pain -- I can't turn, bend, even cough without hurting. In time, I hope my belly "muscles" becomes accustomed to the exercise so I can turn up the heat and lose those extra inches off my waist!
Let's go March! Hoping for more blogs, more posts... And more importantly, more results!

Our Pets in Pet Society
Well, it's 5:00 AM in the morning here and I haven't slept yet. You can blame it on my shifting work schedule... And I guess partially also the the Pet Society game in Facebook. :)
For about a month now, I've been combing through the difference applications there. Vampire Wars, Mafia Wars, and the like are all good. After a while, though, it gets old. I guess the dependence on the number of your friends playing this game can only do so much. Sometimes, it's stressing when you find out that people are clobbering your character all the time. And stress is not exactly why I wanted to join Facebook in the first place.
Unlike the other games, Pet Society gets high scores for me at this time. I guess the capability to interact with Che in a more... uhm... constructive way gives it that every needed boost in likeability. :) I guess doing simple things for people -- like giving a ninja suit or leaving a short note -- is all that's needed to put a smile on your face.

Che's pet's name is Jessie, named after our dog we left behind in Manila. Similarly, I named my pet after our other dog, Jessie's partner, Doggie. Yep, seriously, that's his name. :) Don't ask why! :))
The two are wearing "terno" ninja suits. We didn't actually complete the whole ninja look; the ninja facemask don't fit them very well, so we just kept the headgear casual. :)
Good morning!

Top Ten Things I learned from You on a Diet
I find "You on a Diet" one of the more unique diet books out there, in that it focuses not on the usual aspects of dieting like food, calories, exercise, and sheer willpower, but on the biology and chemistry behind the gaining and losing of weight. And it is written in layman's terms complete with cartoon drawings which, therefore tells you that this is for the common man.
Here are some of the things I learned from it so far:
10. Waistline is a better indicator of your progress -- or lack of it -- of dieting than your weight. When you lose weight, you might actually be losing muscle mass instead of fat.
09. The state of mind is half the battle. Food is the common way to combat stress, but this leads to an endless cycle. Fat Bastard in Goldmember said "I overeat because I'm sad. I'm sad because I overeat." Sounds familiar? That's why the more stressed you are, the bigger your wasteline.
08. Never get hungry! Two reasons: One, in starvation mode, the body uses less of the stored energy, aka your fat. Two, you are less likely to overeat. So don't skip meals!
07. When you feel an empty stomach, drink a glass of water first. If the hungry feeling goes away, it's actually thirst that your brain -- through bad habits, or other external factors -- interprets as hunger, which therefore tells you to eat.
06. Watch what you eat. Focus not only on reducing intake of bad cholesterol, but also on increasing intake of good cholesterol. Good cholesterol HDL helps clear the body of bad cholesterol LDL, which can only mean a good thing.
05. Walk at least thirty minutes a day. Walking is good. Do we really need to explain? Just do it, okay?
04. Muscle cells burn more calories than fat cells. Therefore, bigger muscles means lesser excess calories to worry about. So work out those biceps! :)
03. Swing diet is bad. Period. When you sum it up, chances are, you gained more weight. So do whatever it takes to prevent you from swinging.
02. Keep your hands busy. If not, you're hands find something else to do -- such as opening that candy bar which miraculously appeared inside your pocket! Turns out that playing video games tend to keep you from eating.
01. Like exercise, good sex makes you feel less hungry. The pleasure center of the brain that says you enjoyed sex is the same part that says your stomach is full; doing either satisfies it. Therefore, after sex, you are less likely to eat. Ergo, less calories that takes up residence on your belly!
Hope you're learning and enjoying at the same time while reading this.

Tiring week
Just a short post. Feels like I'm in time-travelling. I think I'm loosing more days to sleep lately.
After the end of two night shifts, twenty-four hours later, I'm back to work for a day shift. Twenty-four hours after that, I'm back one two night shifts. Then two days after that -- that would be tomorrow night -- I'll be going back for two night shifts again.
It's more difficult than it sounds.
Well, that's something I have to deal with for now.

House M. D. - Season 5 Episode 13
Dr. House: Interesting. You have your whole life ahead of you. So why would Cuddy want you to die so young...
Dr. House: You exercise your new found power; I squirm under your thumb; resent the student becoming the teacher - then push comes to shove and we all realize what our real roles should be. And then you put out.
Dr. Cameron: So whyn did I took the job?
Dr. House: Oh will you two stop it already!
Dr. Hadley: Stop what?
Dr. House: Disagreeing.
Dr. Hadley: Okay. Which one of us should not have an opinion.
Dr. House: It's not an opinion, it's a smoke screen. Throw out a lame idea rather than agree with Foreman's better idea because you're worried that would confirm that he's boldly gone where no man has gone before.
Dr. Hadley: How about you just judge our ideas based on their own merit?
Dr. House: Oh you don't want me to do that!
Sarah: I just went to my happy place...
Dr. Hadley: We cannot let House anywhere near this woman.
Dr. Kutner: It's premature, reckless, and potentially lethal.
Dr. House: True. Must be somebody's job to keep me from being reckless and irresponsible. Nobody can stop me from being premature.
Dr. House: And just because I call him nobody, doesn't make me a racist.
Dr. Cameron: I'm not gonna play games. You come to me with a request that makes medical sense, I say yes.
Dr. House: ...I need oral sex... Pretty sure, biological imperative qualifies as a medical sense.
Dr. Kutner: Then why don't we just do it?
Dr. House: Because it's premature, reckless, and potentially lethal.
Dr. Kutner: Then why don't we just.. DON'T do it?
Dr. House: Because that will let Cameron know the fact that I never intended to do it.
Dr. House: Figured if I asked for something really crazy she'd shoot me down, get the 'I can control House' thing out of her perky little system so the next time I went to her with something only marginally crazy, it would seem marginally reasonable and she'd say 'yes.'
Dr. Chase: You've got a point. Except for the fact that it's a load of CRAP!... Don't be an idiot...
Dr. House: I figured a new mother brings the new baby to work 'coz she wants to listen to all the cooing... UNLESS, the new mother brings the baby to work 'coz she wants to DUMP the baby... 'Coz she HATES the baby... Think she made a BIG mistake.
Dr. Foreman: Got a second?
Dr. Cameron: Don't be an idiot. (Foreman promptly leaves.)
Dr. Foreman: That's not what this is. Everytime a decent person comes in, you set out prove that they have brain damage.
Dr. House: I never said her deranged personality was a symptom.
Dr. Foreman: You don't need to. In your five years, I can hear your thoughts from my apartment.
Slight pause...
Dr. House: Can you hear me now?
Dr. House: The brain's like the internet; packets of information constantly flowing from one area to another. Plaque in her brain from MS is like a bad server; cuts off the flow.
Dr. House: We could settle this with rock, paper, scissors. But, unfortunately, there are people who adjudicate these disputes.
Dr. House: I'm the last person you'd ever come to for ethical advice... LITERALLY... which means you've already asked every other person. No one's given you the answer you want.
Dr. House: Has she invited any of her lesbian friends into bed with you?
Dr. House: So, pros are: you might delay the onset of symptoms. Give her an extra year, maybe three. She's still dead before your forty-five. Question is, are those few years worth risking the rest of your life for medicine?
Dr. House: Unless you love her... If you love her, you do stupid things...
Dr. Wilson: Right now, she's just this weird little creature that sleeps, and poops, and cries. But that is who she's gonna be. You will be teaching her how to ride a bike, giving her advice about friends, and school, and getting her heart broken. She'll ignore most of it but some of them will stick. You're gonna be there for her through all of that. You just have to get through this part. That's all.
Dr. House: Can't give you the proof you want because it's trapped in her head, and the only way I can get at it is to cut it open and rip it out. Which is apparently the one test you won't let me run. So either I do this or I do nothing.
Dr. House: I'm skipping steps because our patient is skipping steps on her way to being dead.
Dr. House: If this doesn't work, her spleen is all yours... Unless I kill her of course.
Dr. House: My old boss. And by 'old' I don't mean 'former.
Dr. House: Our patient loves all things annoying... She's the earth mother, takes in the rejects and freaks of humanity and tells them they're A-okay. What was different?
Dr. House: You decided to keep her. Thank you for telling me. You can go now.
Dr. House: And by the way, your hips maybe an evolutionary improvement.
Dr. House: So we've evolve to find baby puke cute. 'Coz otherwise, we'd kill them all before they become functional.
Dr. House: Good news is, we can fix the heart. Bad news for the annoying kids...
Dr. House: You exercise your new found power; I squirm under your thumb; resent the student becoming the teacher - then push comes to shove and we all realize what our real roles should be. And then you put out.

House M. D. - Season 5 Episode 12
Dr Cuddy: House, I've got a D. Y. F. S. home visit on Friday.
Dr. House: And I've got a W. H. O. R. E. visit on...
Dr Cuddy: Mom is busy. You two are gonna have to play outside for a while.
Dr. House: This is the favor? I was expecting something involving... whipped cream... tongue depressors.
Dr. Taub: Sane people don't attempt suicide?
Dr. Kutner: Not ever? So if you were being burned to the stake and there's who one handed you a gun?
Dr. Taub: I'd shoot the guys with the torches.
Dr. Hadley: I'm not giving up on life. I'm just giving up on you. I finally feel like I've got a grip on things. I can handle this. What I can't handle is dragging anyone else down with me.
Dr. House: Gotta let the phone ring more than four times when you're calling a cripple. Chronic pain and pulmonary embolism. Go.
Dr. Kutner: So who do you know who committed suicide?
Dr. Taub: Hemingway. Gerbills. Romeo and Juliet.
Dr. Kutner: Your mom? Dad?
Dr. Taub: Saying I wouldn't do it under any circumstances means my whole family is suicidal?
Dr. Kutner: No. But categorically insisting there are no circumstances means you've got baggage. Personal betrayal? Abandonment?
Dr. House: No hurry. I already bathed once this week. I don't want to look elitist.
Dr. House: Yeah. Coz I'm clearly a guy who likes to knock out a few naked pull ups before I greet the day.
Plumber: You hang laundry in there?
Dr. House: About to hang a plumber in there.
Dr. Hadley: Look at our patient. 32 years old. Not dead yet and already he's traumatized his wife... his son...
Dr. Foreman: And I'll bet they're cherishing every traumatic minute he has left. Wouldn't trade it for the healthiest guy in the world.
Dr. Hadley: True. And there's them suffering with him. Hating him everyday. Only their pain has the prospect of relief.
Jeff: I lied. I wanna die. Can't you please just let me die?
Dr. Cuddy: I'm inconveniencing you because you inconvenience me!
Dr. Cuddy: When's the last time you showered?
Dr. House: SCENT OF A MAN!
Dr. House: You want a man to carry your crap, you have to marry him first.
Dr. Cuddy: Or employ him.
Dr. Cuddy: And hearing me say no over the telephone wasn't good enough?
Dr. House: I'm inconveniencing you because you inconvenience me.
Dr. Cuddy: You know that foster care official's coming in the morning...
Dr. House: If it weren't, there'd be no inconvenience.
Dr. Cuddy: Do not try and force me to choose between my child and my...
Dr. House: I'M FORCING YOU TO DO YOUR JOB!
Jeff: Don't have a family, do you?
Dr. House: Left them all back in Krypton.
Jeff: You're alone. That's why you can handle your pain. No need to put up a front. To be what anyone else wants you to be.
Dr. Cuddy: You've got sufficient income, a high degree of personal AND professional stability, and you care enough to be embarassed by what a mess this place is. Believe me, that puts you head in show as above and most of the foster moms I visit. See you next year... if you haven't adopted her by then.
Zack: Because he's not Dad anymore. He just wants it to be over with. Will you please... please.. just let him die.
Dr. Cuddy: I passed by their meager standard. I failed by mine.
Dr. Wilson: Why do women always do that?
Dr. Cuddy: Fail?
Dr. Wilson: Create ridiculous standards that no human could meet. With your careers. With your kids. You have to be more like us men.
Dr. Cuddy: Being lazy? Blame others?
Dr. Wilson: GET HELP! Most men in your position have a deputy and two assistants at work, and a wife and two nanies at home. You're not superwoman. Don't be a martyr.
Dr. Taub: A colleague. We were residents together. I should have been the one to stop it. He had the mother of all god complexes. So busy treating everyone's problems, he's blind to his own. Helped himself to a vial of insulin, it's a miracle he survived. His friends and family almosts didn't. He was a selfish ass.
Lynne: When I saw you? When I saw the cane? I thought "Thank God! A doctor who will understand
."
Because I sure as hell don't. My husband thinks it's over. So look at me in the eye, and tell me you'd want to live like that.
Dr. Kutner: Looks like we shot the guys with torches.
Dr. Taub: Yep. It pays to hang around.
Dr. House: And I've got a W. H. O. R. E. visit on...

Home alone, Chinese New Year, work and a bunch of other stuff...
Friday evening last week, my wife left for the Philippines for a one-week vacation, leaving me here to fend for myself, keeping the house clean, and dealing with work. I would have wanted to have gone back home with her but circumstances in the office simply made it impossible to do so.
It's quite lonely being home alone, so much so that our little 2+1 unit is quite a mess. :) The fact that my roller circus schedule is playing tricks on my body clock is not helping me to wake up at the right time to do some chores: it's not quite right to hang my haundry out to dry in the afternoon!
Anyway, today marks me and my wife's sixth year together! Happy Anniversary to us! :) She's not here still, though, so that's quite a big bummer. Still, we manage to keep it together. Texts and calls are quite cheap so at least we keep in touch.
There was also this one time when I did not wake up on time, hence, I was late for work. This was quite a big deal for me because I've never been late for work before... Well, never because I did not wake up on time. Oh well...
Chinese New Year came and went like it was nothing again... like most of the celebrations here. Maybe partly because it's not something I'm used to celebrating. Maybe partly also because I'm at work! :)) Just realized that I was at work during the last three holidays -- Christmas, New Year, and Chinese New Year. Makes me wonder whether I should look for a job with normal working schedules. Then again, the crisis is still here and leaving work for whatever reason is very risky. Maybe when I've gained something like a new certification or something.
Even my time for blogging and Internet surfing is affected by my schedule. This is the only time that I've been able to touch the laptop since last week. Come to think of it, most of the time, I'm either ar work or sleeping. :)) Still have a long way to go adjusting to this new lifestyle...
And also I haven't finished watching the previous and current House episode again!Too bad... Oh well...
Maybe it's time I down some vitamins as well... Given this irregular schedule, it's only a matter of time before my body gives out... I think I'm the only one left in the office who hasn't taken a sick leave yet.
Well, better get some shut-eye or I'm gonna be late again tomorrow. :))

TV Season's back!
In case you've not been keeping tabs, the Holiday break is over and the current season of our favorite TV shows are once again go! And it's about time too!
I'm not really gonna post much here. I'm still watching and reviewing House for my weekly quotes. Hehehe :))
So House is up. Heroes will be on the first week of February. Chuck will be much later -- third week of February. not to mention, American Idol's back! Wonder if there's gonna be someone like last season's Renaldo Lapuz -- aka "songer" of I am your Brother slash Brother's Forever. :)) I guess we'll just have to see.

New Year's musings at work...
I'm posting this while everything is still stable and I have some free time.
As I've posted before, I'm at work during the New Year's celebration. It's a sad thing but it's not all bad -- at least not stomach-wise; the bosses here treated us here to tons of pizza and fried chicken! :))
Good thing, also, that my wife is the understanding sort and she understands why I have to go to work. Bless her!
This is actually the first time I'm spending the New Year working. It's a bit weird, knowing that I'm stuck at work while everyone else is having fun...
Then again, I'm not in the Philippines, so fun is already out of the question! :)) Let's face it, nobody beats Philippines when it comes to Christmas and New Year celebrations! Since I'm not there, aside from my wife and friends -- who I'm happy to say are enjoying their mini-celebrations -- I'm not really missing much that I haven't already missed. Fireworks? I think it's not allowed here except in Marina bay.
Ha! I never thought I would miss the sights and sounds of New Year's fireworks back home! So loud... so bright... soooo.... DEADLY! :)) I haven't seen the news lately; I hope fewer people had to be taken to the hospitals this year.
Oh well, something just broke down. Back to work.
Happy New Year!

I'm a Chuck Addict!
Hehehe.. Couldn't sleep much after waking up at around 3PM. So I just logged in to Facebook and checked out the "I'm a Chuck Addict" app, which I haven't actually been looking into since I first accepted it.
Well would you look at that!
I just worked my way up to 2000 points in the trivia game. Each question is worth 10points. I made some mistakes along the way, so that's definitely more than 200 questions I answered in one sitting. Geez!
Hehehe.. Just can't stop answering the trivia, espcially if you know the answers to most of the questions.
Anyway, I decided to stop at 2000 points with the Enthusiast ranking for now. Maybe next time when I'm not doing anything important such as... uhm... scrubbing the drawers to get rid of the smell of mildew mixed with varnish. Ech! :))
