Just read the story here: Arroyo says her foreign trips keep RP afloat
Yeah right.
Basically, the news states that because of her trips to other countries, Philippines had an uninterrupted growth. That these trips resulted are supposed to fix the economy, protect overseas workers, and protect national security.
She's trying to divert the issue here. She keeps going back to the supposed economic growth of the country. That's not the issue here. Hell, she's the president, she MUST do that. The people expect nothing less. If it were even true, then good for her.
However, the issue here is her extragance and blatant display of wealth and power, while most of the Filipinos don't have much to live by. It's so insensitive. Assuming that her trips did result to the economic growth, does that mean she has the right to blatantly display her wealth? Enjoying the fruits of her labor, if you will... Like it's a reward that she deserves...
It's quite disgusting the way she tries to wriggle out of the issues. Not even a hint of apology. Oh well, I guess she got traumatized the last time she apologized a few years back during the Hello Garci scandal. (By the way, what happened? Anybody able to follow that story? It just disappeared without any heads rolling...)
Oh well, let's leave it at that I guess... Let's just keep an eye out for whatever else she's gonna do...

SG Pinoys: Remit NOW!
If you are a Filipino currently working in Singapore and you are wondering when is the best time to remit, DO IT NOW!!!
Since 29-August-2009 about a week ago, SGD 1.00 is now PHP 33.40. That's the highest it's been for a while. Prior to that, the rate was pegged at PHP 33.00. Normally peaks like this only last for a few days. I'm wondering why it's still stuck there for more than a week.
Then again, if you look at the Philippines right now.... Uhm... Well... Do I really need to explain further?
That could quickly change though. With Aquino's announcement of his candidacy, Mikey Arroyo's tomfoolery and his pathetic excuse of a rebound, and the recent sinking of SuperFerry 9... Who knows, right?
Timing is everything. People working the forex can of course use this to their advantage.
Well, good luck!

During my absence...
Just like to use this opportunity to thank all who've given us support during our time of personal / family crisis. It's a heavy burden for us to bear but at least the support you've given us makes it a little bit easier.
Anyway, during the past few weeks, we've stumbled upon a new series in History Channel -- Clash of the Gods. I've always liked myths, especially the Greek myths, so no surprise I was enthralled by this. :) It's a bit difficult to watch it, though, since it's only available in History Channel in the US. Just a warning: there are several disturbing graphicss there. The Hundred-Handers, Typhon, and Medusa to name a few of the most gruesome graphics I've seen so far. You've been warned!
Check out the episodes here.
On a side note, Che has already become good at playing Greeks in Age of Mythology, particularly Zeus and Hades. She initially had problems because she was being rushed by her enemies who almost always outnumbered her. One of the issues that I saw was that she was not concentrating much on the "military" aspect, just the "economic" side. A good economy is good but if you cannot defend it with a good military arm, it will be for naught. Once we got that principle laid out, everything was smoother. Just a few more tweaks and she will be a seasoned player.
That reminded me of two other city-builder games I used to play: Caesar III and Stronghold. Good thing I have brought the CDs with me. I'm retro-gaming once more! :))
